Shrine Hill: Our Concern, Our Future. The attached content was first published as a Sunday Edition Cover Story in the Mindanao Daily Mirror November 15, 2009 and discusses the writer's investigations and opinions on the risks and benefits to Davao City of subdivision development on Shrine Hill and the need for integrated comprehensive Urban Planning 2 Photos It was an exciting and Historic Party. The First Annual Thanksgiving Day Costume Party. Pocahontas was there, the Flappers of the 1920's were there, all in Spring Village, Ma-a, Davao City.
Our male guests were from the Davao Area Expat Association and included England, Scotland, Canada, French Canada, Finland, Germany and America and of course our Filipina ladies. We invited Sri Lankans and Chinese but they couldn't be here.
Only us guys didn't dress up. We were too busy eating all the assigned potluck dishes brought by guests and watching the Flappers. It was the first time many of the ladies had ever had turkey or cranberry sauce. It was the first time I ever had Mango Float which is mango pulp with mayonnaise in layers between graham crackers. (I think?) Great!
It was definitely the ladies night, especially when later we had a pro college student photographer friend of our daughter Amelia come in and take specially lighted and posed shots of all the lovely ladies. All looked wonderful. They were thrilled.
It was our best party and everyone left with a big smile, even Grace who momentarily looked a little sad as she concentrated on not spilling her plate.
Will post the Portraits when they come back, if you like. Didn't put them on Face Book because we know some of you ladies are wanted in other jurisdictions.
