Gas Prices In Davao Oct 29

Has anyone noticed the gas prices are outrageous here in Davao? Maybe its the entire Philippines. Most of the gas stations are charging 43 pesos per liter. Gas prices seem to keep going up. Last week I think the cheap gas was 41 peso per liter. I used to be able to fill up my Kia for 100o pesos. Now 1000 pesos get me only 2/3 of a tank.

I have called my parents in the US and they say the gas price per gallon is about $2.55 and have been pretty steady. $2.55 X 46 (peso) / 4 (liter to a gallon) = 29.32 peso per liter US Price. Here in the Philippines, (Davao) its a whopping 43 per liter.

Does anyone have a reasonable explanation for this? Crude oil is currently at $77.24 per barrel, which is pretty high, but not like it was a few years ago when crude oil was way over $100 per barrel.

Thanks for your feedback,

Coop

Family Fun Night Oct 21

Davao Area Expat Association has arranged for another Family Fun Night. Bring the whole family for Bowling and Dining Out and , Friday October 23rd or come for just Bowling at 7:00pm. Believe me when I say this is an impressive place without being overwhelming.

Rancho Palos Verdes Sports Club is a part of the whole Rancho Palos Verdes organization but it is conveniently located in town, just around the corner from Ma-a Road off Diversion Road in the same “compound” as Crocodile Park.

Anyone would be proud to take their spouse or all the family here. It’s a class place that will be fun for everyone. Still, the selection and prices in the pool side cafe or main restaurant will allow everyone to enjoy themselves with great food and excellent service. The range from P180 to P1,580. Lower if you order before 6:00pm. There is Western style food for just about every taste.

When you see this place, experience the service and taste the food, you will likely say the same thing I did, “Wow, this is how I want to live!” Yet, it much less than the Marco Polo.

We’ve set the date for a Friday October 23rd 7pm so that kids may attend and not have to worry about homework or getting up early the next day. We expect to be done about 9:30pm. If you want, you can show up around 5-6pm and have dinner or just relax.

When you get there, take a short tour around the place. There’s a huge pool, poolside restaurant, main dining room, basketball, weight lifting, sauna, billiards and even a playroom for the tiny tots. We’ll keep the group together and focus on bowling but there’s lots to see and do for the future. We’re planning a pool party and perhaps our Christmas Party for this location if the Group seems to like the place.

Meeting Minutes Davao Area Expat Association. Thursday October 8, 2009, Coco’s Restaurant, Davao Convention Center Compound, F. Torres Street, Davao City

1) Attendance 18 people, Open Meeting Attendance 30

3. Move Board of Director meetings to the first Tuesday after a General Meeting.

7. Cancel the old Yahoo Group website and move to the new DavaoExpats.Org.
8. Remind those wishing to access the new website that it will take 24-48 hours until their password is confirmed.
9. To enforce common acceptable behavior standards and decorum for the website, Email and Meetings.

The Fashion Institute of Design & Arts in Juna Subdivision, Matina presentation by Gerry Munda and his wife was very well received. Many good questions were fielded.

Gerry and his wife Christine lived for many years in the State of Texas USA. Christine is a Graduate of a highly accredited Fashion School in Californa with more than ten years of experience.

The Fashion Institute is unique in Davao because its instructors will be from well known design and fashion centers in Manila and of course the USA.

The Institute’s Launching Party will be held Friday, October 16, 2009 at 544 Ricardo Street, Juna Subdivision, Matina, Davao City. Cocktails at 6 pm.

Audience members who wish to attend Seminars or later classes will receive a Five Percent discount.

The Pinoy Gardner Presentation on small area and container farming was deferred until November 12, 2009. There is a large interest in this means of enjoying a great hobby and making or saving worthwhile amounts in the process.

GRUB STREET RESTAURANT on Duterte street near Gaisano South mall, proprietor, LC, kindly treated the group to wonderful! spicy roast beef and sausage sandwiches on wheat roll bread. It is my opinion that these are the best spicy sandwiches in Davao City. Thank you LC, Thank you very much.
